My husband and I are going on our first mini-vacation with our 6 month old daughter. We are going with his parents and some friends and co-workers (my husband’s dad is his boss).
We will be sleeping in a tent, though the other families are bringing campers, so if it starts to rain we can go inside with them.
Any advice on things we should bring for Emily’s first trip away from home? I’ve already packed:

I’m not a mom, we are TTC #1, but I have done a ton of babysitting and nannying and have dealt with all three of these seats. The Peg is the nicest, most cushy looking seat, but it is EXTREMELY heavy, so if you are doing any plane travel, etc, it gets bulky. The Graco is alright, and I thought it was the best until I used the Chicco. The fabric is fantastic, seems super comfortable and is so easy to get in and out of the base and stroller. It is a little heavier than the Graco, but seems to be totally worth it. If you decided not to do the infant seat, my favorite convertible is the Britax Marathon, it is super easy to use and all the kids I have had in that seat have been very comfy and safe!

i want to sell an icandy cherry travel system used and in great condition but i have no idea what sort of price is reasonable. It was given to me by a friend but it’s fudge colour and i wanted a more girlie pram so i haven’t used it. i said i’d sell it for her but i can’t find a price for a new one, all the sites i’ve been on say to contact them for a price so i don’t know what it was originally worth. I have the both the Maclaren Volo and XLR. I am debating getting another for flights and what not but still want a light weight stroller. I am trying to decide between the Maclaren Triumph and the Inglesina Trip. The Triumph weighs about 11 lbs WITHOUT the hood and the Trip weight about 14 lbs WITH the hood. What is the Best Umbrella or Lightweight Stroller?
My daughter is almost 10 months old and has outgrown her infant car seat with stroller so I have sold it. I am now looking for a umbrella or lightweight stroller. I have looked at the jeep stroller and really like them but no basket underneath and the do not recline. What do you recommend. I am not wanting to spend an arm and a leg either. thanks
I don’t know what is the best, but be sure you can try them out for yourself. I have purchased 2 and was disappointed in them. Both of them had handles that were so low that I had to stoop over to push them. It was awkward and uncomfortable after just a few minutes of pushing. Bare that in mind. Also, you will want one that reclines, even if it’s just a little bit.

How early before are you pregnant moms getting everything ready for the baby?
I’m young, 18. I just got an apartment with my boyfriend and 31 weeks pregnant. I have a large basket full of newborn sized clothes, a trash bag full of 0-3 month sized clothing, a trash bag full of 3 month sized clothing. and a bag of some various sizes mostly 3-6 months but some bigger. I have to plastic bags filled with shoes and boots sizes 0-4 . I have a basket with socks, hats, and bibs. I have a stroller, bassinet, and definitely recieving a crib and carseat from various people. When should I be washing the baby clothing and putting it away in the bureau? How many months of clothing sizes should be stocked in the bureau? I have not had my baby shower yet is October 16th. i’m hoping that will provide me with the other things I need, I also have 600 saved. What should i be doing if anything to prepare? Do You think i have everything I need ?
You can start washing the clothing whenever you want and putting them away. Just make sure that you wash the babies clothing in a detergent like Dreft or All Baby. Babies can go through multiple outfits in one day, so I would make sure to put as much as possible of each size in the bureau. As for sizes, you sound like your pretty set on that. More than likely your baby will wear NB and 0-3 for a while, especially if its a small baby. You may want to get a few preemie outfits however. I would say at least 3 or 4 and you can buy more preemie after the baby is born if you need more of that size.
You are going to need a lot of diapers, but hopefully you will get a lot of that at the baby shower. As well as wipes. When you get the diapers don’t open the packs of diapers until you need them because if you end up with more size NB or size 1 than you need then you can take them back and either exchange them for a bigger size or get your money back. But the diapers must be unopened for the store to accept them. Also make sure that you take your licenses/ID and that you are at least 18 years old or Wal-Mart won’t accept the items.
Your also going to need bath stuff like shampoo, lotion, and body wash. Baby towels and washcloths and a baby bath tub will also be needed. You’ll also need receiving blankets and swaddling blankets. My sister has a 3 month old baby and she loves the blankets from Carters and Osh Kosh. When they are on sale you can get them for $10. They are adorable, reversible, and just the right thickness so they aren’t too thick or too thin. Bottles and nipples will also be needed, and if you are formula feeding you may want to get one or two things of formula to begin your baby on. This may change, depending on if your baby is sensitive or not to certain formulas so don’t get a lot of formula before he is born. I would buy a pack of pacifiers and not anymore, simply because some babies like pacifiers while others don’t. So just start off with a pack of 2 or 3 and see what your babies preferences are. You mentioned getting a crib from someone, but make sure you have a mattress for it because those don’t come with the crib itself. You’ll also need bedding for it and you may want to consider getting a mobile. Other things you might WANT, but the baby doesn’t have to have is a swing, an activity play mat (babies start using this around 2 months), a bottle warmer, a wipe warmer, baby monitors, a diaper genie, and a bouncer.

Is there anything I can use to put my 8 month old son’s Graco car seat in to check it so it won’t get as dirty as last time? I am planning to bring the stroller to the gate as it worked well for us last time we flew. I’m trying to decide on a lightweight stroller & convertible car seat or travel system with an infant car seat, and I was just looking for some opinions. thanks!
What I usually recommend to parents who come in and ask me this question is a Graco Infant Car seat and the Graco Snap and Go. Why? Graco has good quality products without the ridiculously high price tag. If you’re registering, who is going to spend $700 on a stroller for you? Can you afford to pay that much? The Snap and Go is VERY lightweight, and folds down with ease. It is a stroller without all of the heavy, clunky plastic parts. The car seat will attach on and click so you hear that it is on securely. Many Graco infant car seats now go up to 30 or even 32 pounds so you can use them for a while.
By the time the baby is out of the car seat (weight wise or otherwise), you can invest in an umbrella stroller (McLarens are the best…excellent quality). The next step for car seats is a convertible car seat that can go rear facing or forward facing (many also can do booster set positions later on). For this, Britax is the best, and the Evenflo Symphony are a good, cheaper (but still safe) alternative. Some people say that you should keep your little one rear facing longer than the 22 pounds and 1 year that is required by law, if you agree with this sentiment, look for one that suits your preference.
Having said all this, you should really go to the store and play around with the products. See what you think of them and if they will work for you.
I do not under any circumstances reccomend Evenflo, Eddie Bauer, or Combi for strollers. They are VERY lousy in quality. Combi car seats I would be leary of because their strollers are so bad.

So When My baby is due my daughter will be 2 yr 3 months… so we need a double stroller… I like the tandem kinds but hubby likes side by side… in your opinion what pro and cons for both… which would be better for a infant and toddler together? And I dont like the sit stand strollers cause we go to disneyland a lot so need something my toddler can sleep in also.
I have used both,the double ones are better in terms of comfort because both seats fully recline when they want to sleep and also because the weight of the children is distributed better but they are very wide so if you visit a lot of places that have narrow doorways etc that can be a problem.
The tandems are better for getting around with but the front seat never really lies flat,it can’t with a baby in the back and most are made just to partly recline so it is less comfortable for napping but might be enough for an older child,i also found that the weight of an older child in the front made it a bit harder to steer and the front wheels came off a lot,i got through about 4 tandems in two years.
The front seat is no good for a young baby because it doesn’t lay flat,the other option is to use a sling for your baby and a stroller for your toddler.
