what age can a baby sit in the stroller portion of a travel system?

I am going some place I think it’d be more comfortable for him to be in the big stroller part of travel system instead of the car seat portion he is 5 months and probably about 15 pounds. Not small but not huge either.

our son was born 2 months early so I’m glad I got a travel system. I would just hook his carseat on for a while…but then I think at around 3 months when he was about 10 lbs I would put him in the stroller itself (reclined of course) for short periods of time. He’s 8 months old now and about 16.5 lbs and HATES to be in that carseat in the stroller…he likes to see where he is going…he actually hates to be in that little carseat period. We started putting him in a convertable seat around 5 months old when he was about 13 lbs.

I have a stroller that folds up compactly and occupies one half of the cargo area but I’m considering purchasing a storage bin or tote of some kind to occupy the other half and to prevent the folded stroller from sliding side to side when I’m turning. But what if I had to load large cargo into the rear sometime then I won’t be able to fit it in without removing the bin/tote. Any suggestions?

Ladies,

kiddopotamus velcro swaddlers. Maybe it isn’t brand new, but I really like those, and not something around in my mom’s day.

I see why the canopy extender would be good. I am actually spraying sunblock on my boys feets and they are only 2 months old. Their feet stick out into the sun, and I don’t want them to get burnt feet! I think I’m going to stick with the sunblock though, its just their feet and legs and its tear free baby spf50 by banana boat.

Oh wait… tear free sunblock is another great new baby product!

Are they a decent stroller, do you they fall apart easily or steering ok? I am used to a Graco but have the opportunity to buy an Evenflo for CHEAP! But dont want to spend the money or travel a good 45 minutes to get it if it sucks!

I bought one before my Graco and I took it right back when I got it together…it was cheap and flimsy…I much prefer graco and am on my second graco double stroller…they are much more durable and can handle the beating my two and a half year old and one year old give to their strollers

Has anyone actually jogged with the Baby Jogger City Mini?

I know the City Mini is not sold as a jogging stroller but am interested to hear if anyone has jogged with it, or if you know what it’s lacking that means it might not be safe to jog with. TIA.

I have not used one for jogging. But a couple of the parents out our center have them and like them for everyday use. The wheels look a bit small for use as a jogging stroller. But it does have a turnable front wheel, which is a major plus in my book. Most of the jogging strollers I have seen have a fixed front wheel, which makes turning them and moving them around obstacles a pain.

any ideas on how to build a stroller canopy/ sun shade ?

i was given a double stroller but it has no canopy/ sun shade and im trying to find a way to make one. hoping to get a few ideas. and the double stroller is one that has one seat infront of the other.

The only thing I can think of is an umbrella you would use for a beach chair, they attach to the chair and you would tighten them on so as not to fall off.

What should I do??

I am at the point o buying a new car seat. I have the Graco SnugRide now. My baby is almost 9 months old and 21 1/2 lbs - most of her nap times are in the seat after we come home from Gymboree. Should I get a Graco SafeSeat or go right for the Alpha Omega 3 in 1? I don’t care if the seat is heavier because I will be using the car seat stroller frame to wheel her about. SnugRide goes to 22lbs, SafeSeat to 30lbs, Alpha Omega to 100lbs (last car seat I will ever have to buy).
My point is should I “milk” the bucket-type seat and get the SafeSeat until she is 30lbs or just go for the Alpha Omega? They are both around the same price.

I’d go with the convertible seat. If you can afford it get a Britax, they’re the best, otherwise the Alpha Omega 3 in 1.

Can I travel from US to Mexico with a stroller WITHOUT a baby? Stroller is a gift; do I need to check it in?

I have a new stroller for my brother’s baby, I bought it in the US and need to take it with me when I fly to Mexico. Can I unpack the stroller and bring it with me (as a regular stroller so it can be taken inside the airplane) even though I would NOT be traveling with a baby?

You almost answered yourself. It is highly unlikely that they will let you have it as a “Carry-On”, also because most likely you will have your own baggage to start with.

You may also raise “eyebrows” at the security check.

Sorry, but it is best to Check it. If you are lucky and you are not checking any other items, perhaps you will only pay the “First Check-In baggage” fee.

Can a 7 month old go in a lightweight Umbrella stroller?

Ive never used anything other than the stroller from my travel system but were going camping and my little girl will be 7 months by then and dont have room for the big stroller, Im just wondering if it would be okay to use one of the little fabric umbrella strollers? Just unsure because I know there is less support than in a full size stroller, but She is already sitting up very well.

Yes, that’s fine. I have a light umbrella stroller that we use just for traveling. I think I put my daughter in it for the first time around 5 months, which is the first time I flew with her. We will be using it again to travel in a couple of weeks, and she is now 8 months. Ours was really cheap ($20 or so) but it’s not terribly unsupportive. It doesn’t recine or do anything fancy, but my daughter seems very comfortable in it!

What are the essential baby items that we need to get and which brands do people recommend the most?

My wife and I are having a little boy this winter. We live in a suburban area in the Northeast. I’m looking for opinions from you mom (and dads!) out there: stroller (jogging and regular - how many strollers do we need? I do want to take him jogging with me next spring), car seat (travel system?), high chair, (already have a pack and play), baby carrier, boppy (?), diaper bag, bottles, bath center….anything else that moms find are a must?? If you have found certain things to be junk, could you let me know that as well?

I go with the Graco brand for just about everything. Their products are safe and sturdy.

You really only need one stroller for now and I would go with the travel system. It’s nice to not have to buy a separate car seat. A little bulky in the trunk of a car but perfect for any outdoor outing!

Again, Graco high chair, crib, and changing table for us. (got the pack and play too, but only used it when we left the baby overnight at a grandparents)

The bathtub we’ve got is the fisher price rainforest bath tub. Converts to 3 stages of the baby’s life. It was a great product.

I went with evenflow bottles. They were cheaper and i never had a problem with them.

Definitely invest in a swing and some sort of crib toy/mobile. We went with the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders line, but his nursery is ocean themed too.

Don’t get a diaper genie or a bumbo seat. They are a waste of money.

which stroller to get, inglesina zippy, zooper hula, pliko p3 or chicco c1?

i am trying to decide between these strollers. right now i love all of them for different reasons. the zippy has an awesome fold-but no adjustable handles (not sure if that matters). the zooper hula seems to have a ton of nice features, but i have’nt seen one in real life. and the pliko p3 has adjustable handles and folds pretty good too. they all seem to be about the same weight. the chicco c1 is a little heavier, but not sure how noticable it is. just wondering if anyone can give me some insight. any help would be so much appreciated. thanks so much!

I looked at some of the same strollers when I was shopping a little over a year ago. I ended up buying the pliko p3 and I Love it! I actually did not get to see the Zippy in person, though the one hand fold was appealing. I didn’t really like the feel of the zooper, and I didn’t consider the chicco. We use the adjustable handles on the Pliko all the time- I am 5’3″ and my husband is 5’11″ so it’s comfortable for both of us to push the stroller. I live in an urban area, so I chose the Pliko– it is more durable than others and can handle bumps extremely well. We have very bumpy sidewalks around here and I can really feel the suspension working to give a smooth ride. It is compact for a stoller with so many features, and i can get it in and out of the car easily. Most of my friends who have tried it are amazed by how great it is– makes me feel good about the purchase because I’ve never had any other stroller to compare it to (besides the Snugride infant stroller).
If I didn’t need to use it to bump up and down the sidewalks so often, i may have considered getting a Maclaren (Quest?); I don’t know, I didn’t try them out last year, so maybe I would have gotten the Mac instead. They are very sleek and light, very durable, and with great features. You should definitely look at the Maclarens before you make your final decision. They are very popular– The Pegs used to be the most popular strollers around the city, but they have quickly been outnumbered by Macs these days.
