What is the most reliable pick-up truck?
So here is my situation. My wife’s getting a mini-van because we have twin babies and need one. She’s letting me get a pick-up truck. I want to know what is the best, more reliable pick-up truck out there. I don’t care about price, gas mileage or how much towing power it has. This will be used mostly for space to put the dual stroller, softball/soccer equipment, etc. I want a truck that won’t break down on me all the time or need lots of maintenance. I’ve been leaning towards a Chevy Silverado or Toyota Tundra. Not really into Fords.
If you are between a Chevy and a Toyota, get the Toyota. I work at a Chevy dealer and they are way overpriced and aren’t as good looking and reliable as a Toyota. My dad has owned probably 4 or 5 Toyotas (cars and trucks) and never had any problems. I’ve got a Mazda, my sister has a Honda and my mom has a Toyota and never any problems. I drive a Chevy Silverado at work and the interior is cheap as hell. It’s a 21 grand truck, too. My Mazda3, which was $17,400 out the door, has a much higher quality interior than that truck. Do yourself a favor and get the Tundra or even a Tacoma. My dad has a 2006 4-door Tacoma PreRunner. Very nice.
Also, your best bet is to test drive each truck thoroughly, read reviews on both, etc. Since I work at a Chevy dealer, I also see a lot of parts come in covered under warranty. The chrome door handles peel, the steering wheels peel, the tire pressure sensors go bad, etc. In my opinion, Chevys are just kind of junky looking and feeling.
Johnny, have you heard that American car makers have just recently been making good cars and trucks? Japanese and German automakers have always been on top and above Americans vehicles. They are still in the lead. Better quality, my a$$.
Anyway, this guy has to decide for himself. The Silverados are so drab inside and out. The Tundras actually have some style along with every other Japanese car and truck. Chevys are boring and GM is starting to copy the designs of Toyota. Look at the Chevy Malibu and the Toyota Camry. Pretty similar if you ask me.
