kelty jogging stroller double
How many strollers do you own?

How many do yoy need too? My friend has a full stroller for long walks, a medium stroller she always keeps in her trunk for quick trips to the store and an umbrella stroller if she just wants to go around the block to the park. She lives on the secod floor of her apt. so I thinks it helps having three since there is no elevator.
second floor typo above

We have 4 strollers. An umbrella type stroller for quick jaunts to the mall that stayed in the trunk of our car, a nicer single stroller for walking around town and such, and a single and a double jogging stroller. We also have a Kelty pack for those rare, very rare, hikes and for beach excursions.

combi stroller double

Is there like something similar to Armor all for fabric, we have this Combi double stroller and its in perfect?

condition, but the fabric looks really faded.

Scotsguard is an option but it won’t darken the color back towards original. Boat and water sport shops have UV guard products that are basically sunblock for fabric. They can also make the material water resistant.
I use a product called Turtlewax 2001 I bought at the local hardware store in the automotive department on our patio furniture fabric. It has worked great for the last 6 years.
Cheers.

umbrella stroller double stroller clip
What you bring them too.?

So our oldest daughter Jessa is turning 5 in April and our twins will be 10 mnths old and as I said in an earlier question we would like to go to disney for a few days. Do you think it would be best if I had the twins stay with my sister(she offered to let them stay for a weekend) or bring them with us. Id love for them to come but I dont want to overdo it if you get what I mean.
I meant Would you bring them not What sorry.

I think you should take them and spend a couple days the little ones will be fine. I suggest on umbrella stroller for your 5 year old and a double for your twins unless there would be 3 adults then single for all 3. I would bring a lot of sunscreen and mabe one of the stroller clip on fans for each child and definitly have a raincover for each stroller.
Have fun!!!

Where can I find Bumbleride Indie Twin stroller in stores?

I really like this stroller. But my husband hesitates to buy one online. He wants to see and feel it. So my question is where can we find this stroller in stores? We are going to travel for my daughters spring break. So we are planning to stop in Denver, Kansas City and St. Louis and anywhere in between. Is there any baby shops we can check out for this stroller? This is how this stroller looks like http://www.amazon.com/Bumbleride-Indie-Twin-Stroller-Ruby/dp/B00142O70C/ref=pd_cp_ba_2_img?pf_rd_p=413863701&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00142UWGA&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=14XEEVTRC51X7RXM9YX9

Go to the bumbleride website and put in your zipcode and state. It will tell you what stores in your area have them in stock to check out.

strollers lightweight double
Which is good double lightweight stroller?

I am looking for a double side by side stroller, I would like it to be lightweight, compact, and for it to recline fully to a lying position…. Any advice????? Does any one have the Jeep Wrangler Twin Sport All-Weather Umbrella Stroller – Jeep Heat….. If so can you tell me if it fits any of the criteria?

Baby jogger city mini twin is an excellent twin pushchair, it is side by side, its lightweight, lays flat so it is suitable from newborn, compact when folded, its comfortable, has multi position seats and hoods and its great to push. I look after my nephew 4 days a week he is 7 months and my little boy is almost 6 months and when I was looking for a twin pushchair I came across this one and after reading the review on it I knew it was the best one to get, I walk alot and this pushchair is fantastic.

Stroller Net Bag

stroller net bag
How can a toddler sleep sound in an economy class seat since it does not recline much like bussiness class.?

I feel bussiness class seats are better for todds as compare to the economy class but i can’t afford to go to a long air travel on a bussiness class. What can i do?

I too fly with my children in their car seat. Since I was a Flight Attendant for 13 years on long-haul international flights, I saw that it was more comfortable and that babies and toddlers slept better than perched on their parents’ laps. In training, we also learned that this was actually the only way to fly safely with a toddler.

I just returned from the U.S. and was very grateful that I brought my 3 year old’s seat. She really slept well in it.

Save your money on business class. Your child will not fit the adult seatbelt anyway and toddlers don’t really sleep in that position (more curled up in the seat). I don’t recommend flying with small children and babies in Business anyway. Some of those people pay big money to NOT have children around them. Many of those customers absolutely need to sleep on long-haul trips as they will immediately be attendanting meetings, conferences, etc. on their arrival. They do not like to be disturbed and are quick to complain to the crew if they are. In Economy, babies are much more welcome.

When I was still with the airlines, we weren’t allowed to fly Business with our own children until they were 10. This rule only applied to us employees. Of course babies and children of paying passengers were allowed to sit up there.

I highly recommend taking the seat and sitting in Economy. First check that your seat is FAA approved IF you are flying a U.S. airline (check with your non-American airline if not).
http://www.faa.gov/passengers/fly_childr…

If your child is under 2 and you did not buy a seat for her, still try to get an empty seat next to you. Ask nicely at check-in if the flight is full and if not, if they can not fill the seat next to you. Often they will accomodate families with young children as it makes it more comfortable for everyone.

Having your child in her own seat also means that there will be no issues with the child running around the cabin. There was an incident in the press where the parents were actually off-loaded because they couldn’t control their toddler.

I will admit that I’ve strapped down an unhappy little one more than once during take-off and landing. Toddlers hate to be confined and simply don’t understand that they have to be seated sometimes. Firmly anchored in, I could then consol them during those times.

To get through the airport, they sell all sorts of gizmos like this;
http://www.gogobabyz.com/products/gogo_k…
I simply use a small metal luggage cart with an extra bungee cord and it works great. I skip on the stroller and she can even ride in it (and she’s 3 1/2). She usually prefers to walk and then I can put the carry-on bag(s) on it.

Besides, taking your car seat onboard virtually guarentees that it’ll be there at your destination. Checking car seats as baggage risks damage and loss. Wont you need it when you get there?

We do these transatlantics once or twice a year, 11 1/2 and 10 1/2 hours since the oldest, now 8, was 4 months old. All but one trip was alone and now I have three. We also fly a lot of short hauls. Charters, low-cost carriers, stand-by, full fare, we’ve done it. But Business class is for my husband when we aren’t with him!

Here’s an article I wrote a few years ago on this subject in general and kept adding to it. I wanted a place on the net where parents could get non-commercial information from someone who actually worked in the industry. Feel free to visit;
http://flyingwithchildren.blogspot.com
If your questions aren’t answered there, my contact info is at the end.

Have a good trip…in economy!

Exercise Strollers

exercise strollers

exercise strollers

Mums: What’s more important in losing weight, diet or exercise?

Ok, I am 163Cm’s tall (5,3) – and approximately 60kg (128 pounds approx)

I had a baby nearly 9 months ago, I do some light exercise daily (about an hour of walking with the stroller) and I eat pretty healthily – not much fast food, but I do enjoy bread and other carbs.

Which is more important – to exercise more (which is hard when your with a baby 24/7) or to cut out all carbs and junk and stick to just meat, veg and fruit?

I really want to lose around 10 pounds+, but they just won’t seem to budge! Any help you can give would be appreciated! Also any info on portion control?
How did you mummies lose the weight? Thanks!

Eat in moderation as always sweetie, then you can still have a range of foods including the ones you love — chocolate —- yum!! But also just increase your exercise. May be half an hour walking every day. An hour you may be over doing it and maybe not getting the benefits of it. Try and avoid all the junk food of course. Also remember sweetie that a woman’s metabolism changes once she has kids, unfortunately it can go either way. Try having a large breakfast full of oats etc as they are quite filling and should last till lunch so few snacks are required in between breakfast and lunch. At lunch time, try a medium sized meal, definitely smaller than breakfast. Maybe a chicken and salad sandwich. Maybe an apple mid afternoon if you get peckish (a little hungry) and for dinner, try having some meat but a smaller portion again compared to lunch. The ideal thing is to eat small amount at night and not less than 2 hrs before going to bed. If you have dinner late and then lie down, you are basically going to bed on a full tummy and your body goes into sleep mode and wont digest your meal. After dinner at night, I like to go for a quick paced 25-30 minute walk. I usually wait till my girls are all in bed and then go for a walk while daddy baby sits watching tv or on the computer! I was not able to loose my wait after my first baby because I was so stressed with her because she never slept and was always crying. 2yrs later when my 2nd was born, we got my first born’s diagnosis and the weight just fell off me. I must admit, I was also breastfeeding as my first wasn’t so that may have contributed to the quick weight loss. But again I have been able to loose all my weight with my 3rd too. I am now about 65kgs and 175cms tall so I’m happy. I still indulge in the yummy stuff every so often but again it’s still in moderation and you don’t binge on it. Make sure you drink a lot of water too sweetie, help keep your kidneys clean. Water can also be a good deterrent for a hungry tummy. If you feel peckish, try sipping some water to help tide you out till lunch or dinner time rather than eating something that may leave it’s mark later!! Good luck sweetie. It’s not easy loosing it because there are different factors to weight loss for every woman okay so please don’t stress over it. Your weight sounds pretty good anyway. good luck sweetie, hope i’ve been able to help even just a bit.

What are the dimensions of the Graco Quattro Tour Duo?

We need to know the folded dimensions of the Graco Quattro Tour duo stroller to know if it will fit in a car we are looking at purchasing. Can’t find this information anywhere on the Gracobaby website or any definite answers on retailer listings. Does anyone have one that they could measure for us? We would REALLY appreciate the help! Thank you for your time!

We got it and returned it, we nicknamed it “the bus”.

If it does fit in the trunk it will take up the entire trunk.

I don’t know how accurate this is but this is what I found:

Dimensions Folded Width 20 in.
Folded Height 38.25 in.
Weight 39 lb.
Folded Depth 22.5 in.

instep jogging stroller safari

Any advice on choosing an infant jogger?

My son is a little over 3 months old and weighs probably 17lbs (he weighed 15lbs at his 2mos checkup and his next appointment is in March so I’ll find out for sure)
I am trying to find a GOOD infant jogger and the more research I do the more confused I become.

I have an Evenflo travel system already, but I’m ready to start jogging/fast walking and that stroller can’t handle the wear and tear of everyday walks outside.
Any advice?
I don’t want to spend a fortune, but want a durable, good quality jogger that will last for many years.

The instep safari. it’s about $125
EDIT, sorry the suburban is 110 (you have to purchase the infant car seat bar for $30), the regular is 150 (and comes with the infant car seat bar)
i know some of them (the new ones i think) come with the infant bar (to attach the car seat to… you’ll need because you aren’t supposed to sit them in the stroller jogging until 6 months) but if it doesn’t you can by the adapter.

This is the one that is being shipped to me right now. All my research and reviews say this is best for me.

schwinn strollers wheel
Needs some recommendations on a good jogging stroller?

I would like to know what your opinion is. I can sit and review ALL stollers on ALL department store websites but I thought I would ask YOU. I would like it to accommodate a child up to the age of 5 and at least 70lbs. Not to much to ask, right! They are expensive so its got to be the RIGHT one!
Thanks!

I did the same thing, research, research, research. It came down to two, I ended up buying the one I have because I liked the color better than the other one (rose). Schwinn comes with a great name to back it up (it was my second choice). They have strollers on Amazon for under $200. I ended up buying from Wal-mart (who I hate) but they had what I wanted and also site to store shipping, so I paid no shipping costs. I bought a inSTEP – Safari Jogging Stoller with a swivel wheel. This is my second child, they are four years apart and alot has changed in those four years. I would HIGHLY recommend the swivel wheel, it make sit so much easier to use this as an everyday stroller since you can make turns with it. It took about five minutes to put together, folds easy, and the wheel locks and unlocks with the flick of a button. Great storage under and a bag behind the child for toys, etc. Oh, and an adjustable hand bar, love that!! Good Luck!

Re-post: Opinions please?? Travel Systems?

Hi everyone!

Sorry didn’t quite get as many answers as I was hoping for. I’m 20 weeks pregnant (yay!) and just doing some research into strollers. I really really like the look of the travel systems because they have the lightweight strollers (have a small boot) and the baby car capsules.

What is everyone’s thoughts/experiences with the travel systems? Would you recommend them or buy everything separate?

I really like this one:
http://www.chicco.com.au/products/Product.aspx?ProductKey=a47c7e64-1d9e-419d-a6d5-fb58db36fafc#

I personally love travel systems. I use them with my friends babies all the time [because I don’t have a baby yet] but I am going to be getting a Gracco one for myself. My mother in law is buying me another car seat for the baby, but I won’t use it. I love the travel systems. Even the baby car seat is light weight and easy to tote. The stroller fits perfectly in the trunk of my car and is very light weight and with one hand you can easily fold it down. I strongly suggest looking at floor models before buying though. I noticed some have very harsh fabric on them and others a bit heavy. So I would go someplace that has them set up, target has great example because you’re able to pull it apart and look at the pieces and see how sturdy it is and what not.

what age do u switch to a regular car seat?

as opposed to the ones that snap in to strollers. and which is the best type?

Just wanted to thank the people that pointed out that you can rear face your child longer than 12 months and 20 pounds. It’s safer and a lot of parents just assume that you have to turn them at that age.

Double Stroller dilema?

I am in search for a double stroller for my 6 month old twins, I don’t want to spend more than $300 but am looking for a good jogging stroller I don’t know if I should stick to a jogging stroller and have a separate everyday run around stroller or not, I have been searching but my goodness there’s so much to choose from and how do you know what is good quality or not, I’m getting frustrated because I just don’t know what is better. I have been eyeing the Kolcraft tandem optima II that just came out this month but read reviews of the older model and am still undecided not sure if this one would be good for jogging as well. My dream would be to have one great stroller that serves all purposes. Does anyone have one like this??

Tandem strollers are not for jogging.

The sad thing is that you won’t get a good jogging stroller (with a brake and all that) for less than your price cap. The major advantage to getting a double jogger is that the weight limit is significantly higher than a regular stroller. I got a double jogger (side by side) and the weight limit is 120 lbs, vs my regular double stroller that was a weight limit of 60 lbs.

It annoyed me to no end that a twin stroller has the same weight limit as a single. That was some thought put into that. -.-

The trouble with using a regular stroller for jogging is that 1. the wheels are smaller 2. the wheels tend to be for walking on smooth surfaces (jogging strollers have bike tires) and 3. NO BRAKES. Jogging strollers have a hand brake as well as a strap in case you’re running and need to stop or lose your grip. The wheels on regular strollers also swivel in front where a jogger is a single fixed wheel so you’d have to be SO careful turning so you wouldn’t flip the stroller.

Stroller Double Fold

stroller double fold
What is the best stroller that will last (infancy to toddlerhood), not too bulky, and can be used for everythi?

from the mall, to the city, to hiking, to jogs/walks in the park? We don’t want multiple strollers and are willing to spend a little extra money on a stroller that is durable, flexible, and can be used in all the ways that we need it too.

I have the Phil&Ted’s Sport and love it! It is a three wheeler, the front wheel can be swivel or stationary, it folds up nice and compact and is super easy to navigate. In infancy it lays completely back and has 2-3 other positions as baby grows. The super convenience; if you end up having another little before the first is out of the stroller age-you can purchase the extra seat that turns it into a double stroller! It is wonderful! We have used this stroller for over a year with both our kids, in the mall, in the park, and on hikes. Good luck finding the perfect fit for your family!

Is the Zooper Buddy Stroller good for Calgary’s winter weather?

My son is only 7 mos old. Can it(stroller) withstand snow?

That’s a great stroller, don’t worry about it one bit. Make sure you have a wind cover for you little one if you take them out especially on those super cold days. We used to do exactly that, we would put the wind cover on, make sure there’s a little hole to let some fresh air in and it would actually stay nice and toasty in there – they need to be bundled up of course. We didn’t use the zooper, but we had a similar unit, the schwinn turismo. You’ll be fine.

I’m flying to Florida with my 10 month old daughter?

I’m flying southwest and children under 2 sit in the parents lap. I need a car seat and stroller when I get to florida so how do I bring those with me? How does that work?

you will want to check them at the GATE, NOT where you check your luggage and it will cost nothing. These are essential baby items and airlines are not yet charging for them. same goes for a diaper bag you can carry it on the plane and its not counted as luggage.

DO NOT check them with your luggage, they get thrown around and airlines are not responsible for the damage thats done…….sooooo many stories of families who have theirs checked and then when getting to their destination the seat is ruined and they have nothing to use.

are you bringing anyone with you or flying alone with the child? you can also wait until the plane is boarding and if they have extra seats that are open you can install the car seat for free on the plane and your child ride in that.

what i did as far as carrying the carseat thru the airport was invested in a small carryon bag with wheels and a handle and then used a small bungee cord i bought at walmart and attached the car seat to the bag….i just pulled it along behind the stroller 🙂

What’s your opinion on buying the infant travel system combo?

I like the idea of the car seat with base and matching stroller combo. But I realize after a little while, I will have to buy another car seat since the infant travel system combo is for babies up to 22lbs. I currently have a practically new stroller.

So I was wondering if I should get the combo or just make do with the stroller I have and buy a convertible car seat, that I can use well after the infant stage?

trust me when i tell you, you do not want to have to pull a sleeping or cranky baby out of a car seat (or put them back in for that matter) everytime you go somewhere. it’s freaking amazing how much easier it is to just pop that infant seat out.

there are safety reasons to have an infant seat as well- they are more reclined and better for the neck of a newborn, which is just one.

Stroller and car seat recommendations?

I am pregnant and due with my baby girl in March 2010. I have been going crazy looking at strollers and car seats and trying to figure out what I “think” I’ll need. I would like something not too terribly heavy, something that I can use the infant car seat with, has storage underneath, and that either comes with a toddler stroller seat or can be purchased (such as the Orbit) but I really want it to fold up with the seat on it, unlike many of the Bugaboo strollers. Any suggestions or pros/cons you have heard from others would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We finally chose a separate stroller and carseat. Though it’s terribly inconvenient we thought safety absolute first. Britax has the best carseats, though heavy. Scwinn makes a very nice stroller that navigates real well. This was a couple years ago when we purchased but have been extremely happy with the safety, functionality and durability of these purchases. They are pricey but well worth the money.

Stroller For Two

stroller for two

stroller for two

Does anyone know of a good carrier on wheels that would fit two medium-sized, one-year-old cats?

I need to take my two cats to the vet for their annual checkup, and it’s less costly to take them at the same time because I would be charged only one exam fee. I have back problems, so I am looking for a carrier with wheels that can house two. The vet is only a couple of blocks, but I can’t carry both cats.

There are a couple options at Petco. They are a bit pricey but would make your vet trip a breeze. The least expensive is:

http://www.petco.com/product/107925/Snoozer-Roll-Around-in-Red.aspx

The picture shows it as a backpack but it has wheels so you can pull it. If you’re looking for more room you will have to go up in price. Some other options are . . .

http://www.petco.com/product/100460/Jeep-Wrangler-Pet-Stroller.aspx

http://www.petco.com/product/14330/Pet-Gear-Happy-Trails-Pet-Stroller.aspx

There are many other styles on their website and i’m sure there are many others at different pet specialty stores. Look at carriers for dogs, that what mine were for, so you will get more room to fit both cats.
