Buggy board not recommended for Silver Cross prams?
I’ve been trying to find out if I can get a buggy board for my Dazzle pram / buggy / stroller but having no joy at all. I emailed Siver Cross and their response is:
“Thank you for your enquiry, we do not recommend that you use buggy boards on any Silver Cross product. As our pushchairs have been tested up to 15kgs, therefore it will not be safe to carry any more than this weight on the pushchair”
Does this apply to other brands of pram? I’m confused as to whether I should just go out and buy a new one (when in fact I have been perfectly happy with our Silver Cross) but I need one that can SAFELY have a buggy board attached.
Any advice anyone please?

The bugaboo baby stroller was an unknown brand a few years ago, but is now a quite common site on the streets, a bit eye striking with its peculiar look.
So can it live up to its rumour or is it just another costly status symbol?
Well, the parents using the bugaboo baby stroller swear it’s the best thing since sliced bread, and we have decided to take a look at the frog like stroller.
What can be noticed is that the designers sure are parents themselves, and that they have added features to it that they have missed on a stroller. There are some really smart things that has never been seen on a normal stroller before. The most obvious one is that you can move the seat or carrycot vertically; this means that you can set the seat in table-high position; very good if you are outside and wants to sit down to feed or communicate with your baby. Or your toddler can participate sitting with you at the table in a cafe or restaurant.
It’s also reversible from front to sideways(!) to back, so when the baby gets bigger and want to look at other things than mom and dad you can turn the seat around in one easy grip.
The Bugaboo stroller is said to be easy manoeuvred just about everywhere. So we tried; and yes, since it’s light weight and the swivel like wheel makes it really easy to turn and walk with in an busy environment, it was. We took it on the subway through the city in a horrible rush hour, and later on to the beach. It was peace of cake; especially the beach part impressed, we didn’t struggle hard at all to move it around in the sand.
Here are some other features we liked:
- The Carrycot is approved for use for overnight sleeping, good if you are on a trip.
- The Pushchair seat can be used as a seat on the floor or the ground as well.
- The handle bar is height adjustable.
-The under seat bag is bigger then before; good for shopping or storage.
-When the stroller is folded it takes up minimum space, it fits easily even in the smallest car.
-The seat frame is 2 inches longer so will accommodate a longer baby and taller child.
So was it something we didn’t like? Well, the price (about 900 $) was the bit that took a while to digest, but on the other hand this is really an investment, and you won’t need another stroller for as long as you need one.

Give her wet washcloths to suck on…will feel great on sore gums, and get her a little wet so she will keep cool. When we are going to be outside all day I always bring a cooler with ice, and put her teething rings and washcloths, etc, in there to keep them cool. It wasn’t too long ago when you had limited choices if you wanted to take your baby out. It was usually an old English-style pram. While these looked alright they are cumbersome to handle and very difficult to manage for anybody living in the city or even with a moderately active lifestyle. Taking these into elevators or up a flight of stairs was a nightmare.
It wasn’t too late when people realized the need for compact prams they needed for their strolls. That’s how the term stroller came about. The strollers became collapsible, more lightweight and came with plenty of bells and whistles. These days with the super-busy lives that all of us need fitting in time to exercise can be a hassle. This is where the newest innovation - ‘jogging strollers’ come into the picture. A lot of parents wonder what to look for when they think about jogging strollers. After three kids and looking at several dozen strollers this is what we look at what we found to be most important:
Fixed or swivel wheel - This is an important distinction among strollers. It might seem that a swivel wheel might be the better option because it gives greater mobility. But if you have ever actually used the stroller while running or jogging you will realize that the fixed one is the way to go. If you are primarily looking for a nice looking stroller to take your kids out on a walk then a swivel wheel will do just fine.
Cushioning and Suspension - Look for a stroller that has a seat/head/back pad or cushion. While running, you want your baby to be comfortable especially for the cases where the ground might not be even or you run into a pothole. Extra padding for the head, back and seat are highly recommended. Strollers these days are pretty fancy and a lot of them offer great suspension usually rear and sometimes in the front too (just like your car).
Safety Features - This is probably the most important feature and most parents prioritize this at the top anyways. We wanted to specifically mention certain features that we found tremendously useful. The minimum you should be looking for is for padded adjustable shoulder/chest straps with a belt.
Stability - The stability will depend partly on the wheel as we mentioned above. In addition it helps a lot if you have the ability to brake using your handle. This helps if you have to make a a stop. Your momentum will carry you through a bit so it wont be a complete stop but it’ll be a little smoother than you putting in all the effort.
Storage - You always need to carry goodies and basic essentials for your little angels. Make sure this storage area is spacious. You will need to store some of your basic running gear in there too.

So what’s all the fuzz about the Bugaboo Chameleon stroller, is it any good or just a celebrity hyped device used by the Hollywood stars?
It’s meant to appeal to the active parent who wants to get around everywhere, whether it’s the subway, tram, woods or beach.
Because of its light weight, but still stable, and the ability to use it everywhere. The seat and bassinet is reversible, so when the baby grows and wants to look around instead of facing mom and dad, it’s easy to turn around in one grip. And, it really does have some very inventive features, and it’s clear that the designers of this stroller are active parents themselves, who developed a stroller they would want to use as well. One thing that’s never been seen on another stroller before its the ability to put the seat up and down vertically, so that the baby can sit at a table-high position and join you at the table in café for example, or just if you want to have a comfortable position when feeding your baby outside sitting on a bench or similar.
The non fixed wheels make the chameleon bugaboo stroller very easy to turn around in a small space, you don’t have to push the handle down and get the front wheels up when turning, this is very handy, and after using a stroller like that it feels really uncomfortable to drive a stroller with fixed wheels.
The Bugaboo is supposed to be easy to walk with in any terrain. We tried; since it’s light weight and the swivel like wheel makes it really easy to turn and walk within a busy environment, yeas, it was easy. We took it on the subway through the city in rush hour, and later on to the beach. It passed the test in all those environments.
Some other features we liked was that the carrycot is approved for use for overnight sleeping, a good thing if you are going to spend the night somewhere. The carrycot seat can be used as a seat on the floor or the ground as well. The handle bar is height adjustable, so it will fit both mom and dad. It takes up very little space when folded together, so it fits easily even in a small car.
So, what didn’t we like, then? Well this was a really good stroller that we truly liked, but one thing that gave us a bit to think about was the price. About $750 is a lot of money for most people. But, looking at is as the investment it really is, it could certainly be worth while, you won’t nedd to buy another on for as long you have babies in the house.

The Universal Car Seat Carrier - An Inexpensive Alternative To A Standard Stroller
If you are the parent of a newborn or are soon expecting a baby, you may already realize that moving a baby between an infant car seat and a stroller can be a real hassle. Bothering a fussy or sleepy infant is not something a tired parent wants to do! Travel systems are very popular these days, since you can simple clip the infant car seat onto the stroller, however they can be heavy to push and hard on the pocketbook. Before purchasing a stroller for your baby, check out another great alternative: the universal car seat carrier.
What is a universal car seat carrier? This device, also called a stroller frame, is a metal frame on wheels onto which you can quickly and easily clip your baby’s infant car seat.
There are several advantages to using stroller frames. They are compact and lightweight and can accommodate most major brands of infant car seats without the use of tools. Like standard strollers, they can come with useful features such as a removable parent tray with cup holder, a storage basket, and plastic swivel wheels for one-handed steering. They are great for use in shopping malls, on paved sidewalks or paths. Double and triple universal car seat carriers are sold as well, though they sometimes require more research to find. The best thing about universal car seat carriers - other than the fact that your newborn remains comfortable and happy in their infant car seat - is that they are a lot cheaper than travel systems (from $60 to $110).
There a some disadvantages to using a universal car seat carrier, but the advantages listed above more than make up for them. So what are they? They have limited features and can only be used until your baby outgrows their infant car seat (at 30 lb, under one year of age usually). They are not suitable for use on rough terrain or for jogging, and great care must be taken to securely clip the infant car seat onto the carrier to avoid accidents.
All in all, a universal car seat carrier is a great choice for transporting your baby during their first year of life. Having one permits you to get out of the house quickly and easily with your newborn during those first few hectic months. And when the fog finally lifts, you can take your time to figure out what type of stroller you’ll need when your baby is older (all-terrain, jogger, umbrella, lightweight, etc.). Companies such as Baby Trend, Graco and Kolcraft manufacture very good universal car seat carriers that are sold online or in many stores that sell baby gear.
