This weekend we are going to Disneyland and I really don’t want to take my bulky stroller because it wouldn’t fit with all of our luggage. We are driving there. My daughter is 8 months old and I was thinking the chicco or the Maclaren line of strollers. Which one did you like best? Which one has the best canopy covering?..Were they too small? Maclaren is sturdier than Chicco, but there is also a similar Graco stroller that just came out. I forget the name of it, but it’s almost identical to the Maclaren umbrella style with a basket and big canopy. It appears to fold small, too.

Should I buy a baby carrier AND a stroller?
I will be buying a baby sling for my baby, and I plan on using it most of the time. Would I need to buy a stroller aswell, or is that more of a luxury item in my case? I can see the usefulness of it if I get tired of carrying baby. But I really only have money for the necessities now.
Both are extremely useful! What I would do is buy the carrier to begin with. Babies can be pretty upset in a stroller for the 3 months (approx.). They want to be close to their mummies and are very settled in a carrier. However they do start to get very heavy in the carrier and there are times you need more freedom for carrying things, trying on clothes etc. If you hold out as long as you can and wait for your baby to have good head control, you can probably buy a very cheap stroller. Many people end up with one once their baby can sit upright anyway because so many of the big fancy baby ones are too heavy and hard to maneuver around small shop aisles.

i am pregnant & can NOT trust my 2 year olds to be out of a stroller and just walking along side of me- they tend to get side tracked and run off- if i had one kid i could just chase them but when they are running in separate directions it is not an option. now, i have a double stroller for them & i can use that for a little while and hold the baby in a carrier. but they are 2 1/2 and getting a little old for the “baby seats”

I bought a Baby Trend Expedition jogger stroller at a rummage sale. I looked at their website and know it’s definitely not their newest models.

But otherwise the Bob Revolution is a great jogging stroller. If you’re serious about running (and I am all for great looking items too) I wouldnt rule out the Bob. If you go to the forums on CoolRunning.com, its typically the most recommended.

If you do get the BOB, one thing that worked for us was getting it thru REI. Then with our REI dividend used it for the infant/snack bar attachment. Also REI was awesome about showing us how to use it and got it cheaper there on sale then anywhere we could find it online.

Own a Graco Quattro Travel System. Very bulky & heavy…Alternatives?
I’m due any day now and I’m trying to get everything in place! I currently own a Graco Quattro Tour Travel System - Kasbah. It’s beautiful and well built but it’s very large and bulky. I know there will be days when I want to take something lighter. So basically I have 2 options:
1) Purchase a lightweight stroller (such as Koolcraft Travel about) where the infant seat will not snap in.
or
2) Purchase a Graco - SnugRider Infant Car Seat Carrier Stroller Frame where all Graco infant seats snap in. But the problem with this option is that there’s no stroller after the child grows out of the infant seat.
I have the Graco Infant Safeseat so it’s bigger then the Snugride. Supposely, the Safeseat holds children up to 30 lbs. Which option do you think is the better solution? Is is really hard to remove a sleeping baby from a carseat to a stroller? I’m a 1st time mom so I’m clueless!
Honestly I only used the car seat snapped in the stroller 3 times, and that’s through two kids. Car seats are uncomfortable, they cause the baby to overheat and when they are snapped into a stroller they make the center of gravity too high. Honestly my infant carrier goes from the house to the car, and usually even just sits in the car at home. I almost never take it out when visiting or shopping.
I really doubt you are going to do much moving around the infant seat once the baby is over 20lbs. Maybe if it is very cold it is beneficial to put baby in the seat and then under lots of blankets and then haul it out to the car (its better not to put too many layers or a snow suit on a baby in a carseat, obviously this isn’t always possible to avoid)
If you tend to need the carseat where you are going (like you walk and then get picked up in a car) then the stroller frame is a lifesaver.
Otherwise you could use the quattro until the baby is old enough for an umbrella stroller. Or you can get a reclining umbrella stroller that can be used from birth and just use different strollers for different things.

Just curious to know what the general consesus is on this subject. I see a lot of children who look five or six who still ride in strollers, but what age should they stop riding in stroller entirely? Parents, when did you stop allowing your kids to ride in the stroller?
My 3 year old rarely rides in a stroller. The only times would be if we were going to be walking a lot like at the zoo or Disneyland or something, otherwise he can walk. Of course he is very well behaved and would never run off or anything. His cousin who is the same age I would probably still put in a stroller because he doesn’t listen, so I guess it depends on that too, but if I had to choose an age I would say that before they turn 5 they should not ride in a stroller anymore.
